November President’s Message Times are tough all over. In case you missed the news for the last three to ten years, things are tough, everywhere. We have the rare opportunity to elect a President with no previous tie to the Whitehouse, and this alone should motivate you all to vote. We in the Miami Valley are also in need of elected officials. Your MVSPE needs a Treasurer and a President-Elect. The good news is you can be that person. The only requirement is you must serve on the Board of Directors for at least one year prior. Do you want to get started on this journey? Come to a Board of Directors meeting, usually held at 5:00 PM before the regular monthly meeting that starts at 6:00. Ask if you can be on the Board, and show us your SPE membership number. That is all it takes. We have had one meeting this year. If you missed it, well as usual, it becomes my fault. Our web site, the only way we communicate these days, was down. We are now back up and running, and look forward to bringing up to date. The November meeting will be at a new location, the Holiday Inn – Eastgate at I-275 and Ohio Route 32 (see map). We are discussing the ServTek topics of “TCS Thermal Control Solutions” a barrel heating and cooling system for new and existing injection molding machines, extruders and blow molding machines. This is truly “green technology” because of the reduction in energy costs. Remember this is for new and older machines! Well worth your time, and future money savings! The second topic will be the Barr VBET, a screw technology worth seeing up close. Our December 6th meeting will be the annual Spouse/Date Night. Everyone is invited to come and see, tour, and have dinner at the most famous “think tank” in America. The Dayton Engineers Club is the home of almost every idea in America in the twentieth century. Started by Charles Kettering with his friends Wilbur and Orville Wright, it was the place to meet to discuss ideas. This is also the home of the Miami Valley Plastics Engineers first meeting in 1946. Information and details will be on-line, as they become available. Please keep this date open. As always, looking forward to see you at our meetings.
